About the Africa Observer

In May 2007 GLOBALGAP appointed Dr. Johannes Kern as smallholder ambassador and Africa observer.

Role of the Observer:
The Observer has a very strong involvement in the GLOBALGAP Fruit and Vegetable Sector Committee. The role is quite different from a classical observer role that is limited to listening and reporting to the host organisation of the observer.

  1. The observer is invited to participate on all meetings during the event
  2. The observer is invited and also requested to participate on discussions and to give contributions and opinions to the discussions
  3. The observer has in the case of decision making no voting right (he is no member)
  4. The observer is allowed to publish a his protocol of the sector committee meetings under www.africa-observer.info
